Brow Lift - Browlift Surgery
Los Angeles, Pasadena, Covina, Arcadia, & Hollywood, California
Creasing in the forehead area due to aging can change a person’s face significantly and cause him or her to look perpetually worried, tired, sad, or angry. The brow may droop, perhaps causing the eyelid skin to droop as well. All of these problems and more can be improved with brow lift surgery, a procedure that will smooth the forehead area and reduce the prominence of lines, furrows, and sagging in this region of the face.
Am I a Candidate for a Brow Lift?
Most browlift candidates are between the ages of 40 and 70, are in good overall health, do not smoke, and have realistic expectations for the outcome of their procedure. The procedure is ideally suited for individuals who experience one or more of the following:
- Frown lines or furrows between the eyebrows
- Sagging or low-positioned eyebrows which create a tired, sad, or angry appearance
- Deep horizontal creases across the forehead
Often, Dr. O’Toole may recommend eyelid surgery or a face lift in conjunction with your brow lift for enhanced results.
Your Brow Lift Procedure
Depending on the severity of brow descent and other factors, Dr. O’Toole may offer an endoscopic browlift, a limited incision temporal brow lift or a traditional coronal brow lift.
Endoscopic brow lift surgery is performed through several small incisions made behind the hairline on the upper part of the forehead. A small camera called an endoscope is used to view the facial tissues. Los Angeles plastic surgeon Dr. Martin O’Toole lifts the forehead area, reducing drooping as well as other signs of aging such as creasing, and closes the small incisions. When appropriate, Dr. O’Toole will use a fixation device called an endotine which holds the brow in place so that it does not come back down.

Recovery after Brow Lift Surgery
The endoscopic brow lift procedure performed by Dr. O’Toole results in a much quicker recovery time than a traditional brow lift. After surgery, you should keep your head elevated for a few days to minimize swelling and facilitate healing. You may experience some bruising, redness, or soreness, but this will gradually subside over the first week. Dr. O’Toole can prescribe medication to alleviate any pain or discomfort following your brow lift.
You should be able to resume normal activities and return to work in about one week. However, strenuous exercise should be avoided for several weeks until you are completely healed.
