KYBELLA®

Often, cosmetic injections are temporary fixes to long-lasting problems. This is because many cosmetic injectables (such as dermal fillers or BOTOX® Cosmetic) are naturally absorbed by your body over time. However, KYBELLA® isn’t like these other facial treatments. KYBELLA® differs in that it is a permanent treatment; after the initial treatment sessions, you will never have to think or worry about that double chin again.

Candidates

If you are bothered by fat beneath the chin (submental fullness), you may be an ideal candidate for KYBELLA®. You must be in good health and have realistic expectations before undergoing any treatment. It is not recommended to use KYBELLA® if you are pregnant, have trouble swallowing or breathing, or currently have medical conditions in or near the chin area.

Treatment

KYBELLA® is a deoxycholic acid, which is a naturally occurring molecule found in the body that breaks down and absorbs dietary fat. During your procedure, several injections will be made in the fat beneath the chin, and fat cells will be destroyed. Once dissolved, fat will no longer be able to accumulate in the chin area. Your KYBELLA® treatment may require two to four sessions spaced at least six weeks apart to achieve maximum results. The number of treatments will depend on your aesthetic needs.

Recovery

You will be able to return home and resume regular activities immediately following your KYBELLA® treatment. Swelling and bruising will occur but should resolve within two weeks.

Results

Changes in the appearance of your chin start to become apparent after two to four treatment sessions, although up to six sessions may be needed to achieve full results. Overall, you will notice a significant reduction of fat beneath the chin and feel confident knowing you have a slimmer, more contoured chin.

Some possible side effects and risks may include:

  • Nerve injury
