Woman measuring her breastAs we approached the last week of the year, it is the perfect time to reflect upon what is important not only to our lives physically, but also to our appearance. Of course with each passing year we age and it is impossible to ignore the signs of aging as time progresses. Often women who are approaching middle-age will look at what once were the tone and shapely looks of their youth, and wonder if there is anything that they can do to improve upon what can appear to be inevitable. Dr. O’Toole consults with women over 40 who sometimes have the misconception that they are no longer candidates for breast augmentation. Some believe they should accept their shape as an aging version of they are and realize that they are not vying for a bikini-clad body. The truth is, looking your best and having your most appealing figure is not age specific. Breast augmentation is acceptable for women of most any adult age. Women over 40, especially those who have had children Dr. O’Toole may recommend a breast augmentation in combination with a breast lift for the best results. Dr. O’Toole explains that if he does not lift the breast prior to inserting the implants there is a good chance that the patient will be dissatisfied with the results. Breast implants sit on the chest wall and if the natural breast tissue is sagging it will continue to sag below the implant. This creates a very unattractive and unacceptable result. As the New Year approaches it is an excellent time to consider breast augmentation. Most patients can expect a recovery of 5 to 7 days. Complete healing is usually accomplished in about six months. This is perfect timing for the summer swimsuit season. Patients who are over the age of 40 should also look forward to enjoying swimsuit season!
