France’s National Cancer Institute has recently required warnings be placed on silicone breast implants stating that this type of implant increases risks for anaplastic large cell lymphoma – an extremely rare type of breast cancer. According to FNCI, 18 women with silicone breast implants have been diagnosed with ALCL since 2011.
The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, while stating it respects the FNCI’s commitment to public health and wellness, believes this warning may stir “unnecessary panic,” particularly given the rarity of this disease.…
