Woman getting face injection As new information becomes available one study reports that a brow lift may actually help prevent migraine headaches. Of note Botox has been reported as effective for this use for quite some time. In a recent local news story it was not clear as to whether the brow lift needed to be combined with Botox in order to be effective. Dr. O’Toole performs both the brow lift surgery and Botox injections. Most patients who have these procedures rarely do so for the sole benefit of relief from migraine headaches. With a brow lift the brow will be raised so it is not an appropriate recommendation for someone who does not have a low brow. Patients should not be overzealous concerning the idea of brow lifts as migraine treatments especially if they are hopeful they will be covered under insurance. According to ABC7 nearly 30 million Americans suffer from migraine headaches that can be extremely painful and debilitating. Now a common plastic surgery procedure, a “migraine makeover” of sorts, may help stop the pain. A study by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons found the brow-lift procedure completely eliminated migraines in 57 percent of patients.
