If you’ve consulted with your doctor and decided to undergo a facelift procedure in the Los Angeles area, you’re undoubtedly excited about the benefits you’re likely to see. A facelift is an excellent way of restoring youthful vitality and vigor if you’re showing the effects of age and wear. For all your excitement, however, you might also be nervous about the day of your procedure. This is understandable. Dr. Martin O’Toole and the staff at Pasadena Cosmetic Surgery are excited about making the day of your facelift as simple and smooth a process as possible. The facelift is a common and safe procedure. Here’s what you can expect on the day of your procedure.

The Procedure

After you arrive at the surgery center of Pasadena Cosmetic Surgery, you’ll be shown to the appropriate room. Our staff will make sure you are comfortable and are ready for the facelift procedure.

You will be given anesthesia for the facelift procedure. Prior to coming in for your facelift, Dr. O’Toole will discuss with you a choice between intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. These conversations will occur at your initial consultation. And if you have any questions about your facelift, don’t hesitate to ask.

Once you are safely sedated, Dr. O’Toole will make a series of small, inconspicuous incisions. The precise nature of those incisions will depend on which face lift procedure you are undergoing. In a traditional facelift, the incisions tend to run from behind your ear up along your hairline around the side of your head.

Once the incision is complete, Dr. O’Toole will reposition the deep sturctures and re-shape the skin to create a smoother more youthful appearance.

With the procedure complete, you will be free to go home and relax for a few days. Any pain will quickly subside, and Dr. O’Toole will prescribe painkilling medication if necessary.
